I was in the middle of carving and fatal error (2) was displayed.Any idea what this is and how to correct it?

It's probably a bad memory card or the memory card needs to be re-formatted. If that doesn't work I suggest you call LHR tech support.

My first thoughts are a Static Electricity ZAP... Is the machine grounded? Dust Collection? What version?

2nd is a Squeezed Card.... Many of us have a strip of tape on the card making it easy to pull out. Some that don't have had that squeezed area in the back of the card short the circuit board....
