This is a treeman face in mahogany wood which is not too hard. But for some reason it is taking off the wood in curls. And this is the finished product. I have been carving allot of hard wood in the past so does then mean my bit is dull or something else?

As soon as I see the wood start to curl as the cutting bit on doing its thing, or I start to see wood fibers standing up along the edge of the carve that tho bit is feeding into this is my indication the bit is dulling and needs to be replaced

one trick it to reverse the grain direction. In your case run the board in the opposite way.

Ok, I have determined that my (2) 1/16 carving bits are only good as BBQ skewers. They are beyond dull. It will take me time to get new ones, but I do have a 1/8 and 3/16 carving bit.
I used the 1/8 carving bit by mistake once as a cutting bit, till I got a Y axis failure lol.

Question, I am making some signs for the first time on 14 x 72 inch Mahogany boards. Will the 1/8 or 3/16 be fine? I have never tried them. Here is the most detailed sign of the 4. Input please
