Toggle grid lines

2.04 - the icon at the top of the page does not toggle the grid lines as it is supposed to. I have to go to the View pull down menu to do it. How do I fix this?

No clue! It works for me. You might try removing the tool and adding it back in.

It never worked for me in 1.187 and doesn't work in 2.004 either. I've always had to go to view menu.

Has always worked for me in both versions, although you did make me just go and open 2.004 just to confirm it there. Can't add anything to assist other than perhaps see if your graphics card can use a driver update.

This may sound stupid, many of those buttons look the same to me. Check when you hold the mouse over the button, you get the "Toggle Grid Lines" mouse over message (before you click).

After reading this thread I went to look in my designer because I had never noticed the button and sure enough I did not have it. I went to view- then toolbars- then customize and I added it. Found out there was a lot I could do to remove and add buttons for things.

bergrude - that is why you are a senior member and I only a lowly member. You were right, I had snap to grid edge there instead of toggle grid.

I had to manually add mine to the toolbar.

There are 3 icons in the View Toolbar that look very similar:


Toggle Grid Lines
Toggle Snap to Grid
Toggle Snap to Edge


To add the icon:

Go to View > Toolbars > Customize

From the drop down menu change it from Standard Toolbar to View Toolbar
The Available Items on the right are in alphabetical order. Scroll down to "Toggle Grid Lines"
Click and drag the icon into the left hand side called Selected Items.
Place it using the red line where you want it to go on the toolbar.
