Is there a way to determine whether your boards are fried underneath? Still can't get the cut motor to run. Connectors have been changed, motor and cover switch.

I'd check the cut motor first. If the brushes appear to be okay, you can connect the two leads from the motor directly to a 120 volt source to see if it runs. Be EXTREMELY careful as it can be quite a shocking experience. Also make sure the motor is well anchored. There is a lot of torque when it first starts up.

The best way to test this in my opnion is to replace the Termination Board...

The computer signal comes in and in one of the 6 pin packages turns on a LED light inside the chip. Inside the Chip on the other side is a Photo Transistor that turns on when the light of the LED is on. This acts to seperate the computer from the High Voltage or 115 VAC that is part of the next stage... The Photo Transistor through the C1 Cap turns on the Q1 Transistor. Not sure if it is a Triac or SCR or Transistor. But Q1 is the on off switch.

Was that your board with the brown glue? That looked bad... Resistors need to dissipate HEAT.... The glue will make them fail.... The C1 I agree... Needs glue.... NO Heat issue with Caps...

I agree with Al but, testing the motor directly can eliminate ordering un-necessary parts. As I mentioned, it can be dangerous.

Or you could measure the resistance with a VOM (Volt-0hm-Meter). Should only be a few ohms. If kilo ohms or greater, motor has a problem. If a few ohms, the problem is elsewhere.

The motor is brand new so do you think I should test it anyway. No Bergerud that wasn't me with the brown glue on the board.

That was not me who mentioned the brown glue! Having to test a new motor does not seem right, but, you never know. Probably is wiring or x termination board.

Did LHR forget to put brushes in the motor?

zan...I'm confused. No new cut motors from us. You got a new Y motor in Sept.

lynnfrwd the motor was my spare I dropped of for her.

Were you sure it worked?

Ok...so it wasn't a new one from us. That explains it.

Henry has a termination board. you all think I should give it a try since nothing else is working?

I would be afraid a bad x-termination board would damage a good cut motor.
