I guess it has been a really long time since I last had to calibrate my x axis. The last time I had done it was when it used to cut slots in a board and the measured based of that. In any case, My question is I see the new procedure wants you to use a 36" board. Is there any advantage to using a longer board (say 48")? My thinking is say I get it to within a .1" at 48 so my margin of error is .025 per foot. If I was off .1 on a 36" board then my margin would be .033 per foot.
I'm wanting to cut some very accurate parts from it in the near future so I would like to be accurate to approx +- .020. Thoughts?
