View Full Version : Possible more issues with 2.004 on Mac

While working of a concept for a few minutes I decided to quit and clock on the 'Red' close app circle (Mac). The program stopped responding and it took a force quit by the OS.

The second thing was that when I placed the mouse arrow over a button so the 'Balloon Help' would display the Red - Close App, Yellow - Minimize and Green - Maximize circles would go white. This happened in 1.187 and 2.004. I loaded an Apple app (Numbers) to check this against it as I didn't remember seeing this behavior before. Numbers did NOT behave this way. Not saying either is right or wrong, just pointing it out.

FWIW: The second behavior happened when I tried to exit the app as well.

Thanks,

Steve

PS: Any word on 2.005 release date?

Nothing? No one else with a Mac notice this behavior?

Steve,

Maybe you need to ask a fellow Mac user to open it on their machine, doesn't seem to be any response so far.

I have had this happen trying to load a dxf file. i locks up and won't let you close anything/minimize and have to force quit. on both 1.8XX and 2.004

Was that the issue or just that the buttons didn't have color?

Connie,
Both but certainly the lockup and not allowing a program exit would be more important I would think.

I didn't get any lock ups.

I generally don't use the X button to close an APP since on most Mac Apps, it only closes the Window, it doesn't stop the program from running.

The Close, Minimize, and Maximize buttons do Dim, but that's a non-issue for me.

OS X 10.9.1, MacBook Pro 17

I can't remember. It is usually when the dxf file is corrupted or too many open vectors. I have had some success loading them into mesh lab, closing the vectors then re saving, then they load and no lock up.

Peep, I have the same thing happen on my iMac.

Very slow when using text.

I truly believe this has something to do with a file or app called fontgen that is part of designer.

I know sometimes if I double click a ptn or mpc if will try to load designer twice and fontgen will load twice and everything crashes.

On my win7 machine at work with 2.004, text designing runs slower than ver.1.87.

Probably due to the new algorithms in ver 2.004 for text generation.

BUT, the iMac text generator is considerably slower......

Did you guys check the "Prevent App Nap" checkbox for the CarveWright application? If not checked, it causes text to be slow.

Thanks, I'll check it and give it a try

Apple Version 10.8.5 does not have the Prevent Nap option.

I have an old iMac24 from 2007 Yep it still works great for most everything.

Wonder if I upgrade to Maverick , if it would help help designer run text faster.

With a max of only 4G of mem, seems I may need to get a new machine....

Maverick is the one that has app nap.
