I recently purchased several STL files so I can concentrate on carving Icons and crosses instead of custom signs. On a couple of the stl's there are blank spot's. how do I fill those blank spots in? This is probably very basic stuff to know so if there is a tips and tricks I should look for or a tutorial please point me in the right direction.
Thank you in advance and forgive me in advance if I don't respond right away. I have been fighting a nasty head cold which I cant seem to shake at all.

Are you trying to carve something like this.If you want you can bring it in to pattern editor.

If your trying to get the blank spots to be carved out and the same level of the background do "outline" of the pattern and apply a carve region at the same depth.

If you are talking about the dotted lines across the bottom section and edge, take it into Pattern Editor and select the right height with the dropper tool and then paint the holes to be the same height.

Thank you for the advice. I finally got it working properly and was able to fill in all the blank spots.

That was looking like a beautiful pattern, I would like to see the finished product when you carve it.
