Has anyone done something like this? Or perhaps seen a pattern out there that's similar?

That would be a lot of wood to remove - my first thought.
Other than that, it should not be a problem.

That was my thoughts too Ken. Was thinking I could just just the pattern and apply to a wide board. It's going to be painted, so grain direction will not matter.
