I'm trying to use the stl to make a pattern I'm trying to make the pattern 1.5 thick and when I make two slices at .75 I get to the end of the pattern and push finished I get the error:..SQL Error to much data for one table row unable to fetch results, so what do I to correct this?

This normally means your pattern is too big. Check the measurements when you import it. Uncheck the chains so only the width and length is linked, and change either one smaller and try it again.

Does it mean that the pattern is too big or does it mean the favorites file is close to full? Someone else had this same problem saving from the PE the other day. I thought there was some posts once about the max file size. And, I thought there was a problem trying to make the file smaller. Anyone remember that?

Edit: when my STLs are too big, I get a runtime error - abnormal termination type crash not the SQL error.

This is, file is too big, not the favorites. The other day he already had it in the favorites. Reducing the file size solved the problem the other day, and will solve it non this.

I have mentioned other ways to reduce the file size without changing the actual measurements of the pattern. This can be done by grouping the pattern on the board, then using the make pattern and overwriting the original. Just give it a try. I know it works if the patterns is imported, from a STL. But to verify it works export the pattern, look at the file size, then do the grouping and export again and look at the file size. Normal is about 1/4 the starting size. Only other way to reduce the file size is to change the width and length.

I have just gone up to making patterns over 3Mb. How big are we talking here?

I believe it is about 4meg or about that. Now size and saving to favorites may be a little of both.
My favorites is about 182 meg in size. Every once in awhile I strip it out, yet the size has never gotten smaller.

I was just looking at my STL files, I think the ones I have that error on is about 150meg for the stl file. Not sure what the pattern size would be when finished. But each time I reduced the dimensions of the file and it saved fine, or reduced the size of the STL file. It may be more to due with 32 bit than anything else.

I have done my first 3-d object I am posting it and maybe I have it right I hope someone will look and see if I done it right. I know I need a left and right side...I am wondering if I need to have a deeper feather for the cutout?

That looks good. Now how did you get around the error?

STL world size and program size. World scale can be different from programs to programs Designer will reduce the size of the STL to better fit the machines bed size, so if you have a issue try to scale your STL down to 14" in y.

I had to unlock the green chain, how do I find the file size?...download on to the flash card?

Thanks AOk, LG I thought I had mentioned the 14 inches too, but looked and did not. If my pattern is larger than 14" on the Y, it too will give the error when trying to save the pattern.

I left the snap off this pattern..

AOK, only problem I see is the back side will also have eyes, and a face. But it will be a full 3d when you carve it and assemble it. Nice work on the stl slicing.

I'm getting a "file not recognized" when I try to upload this. Anyone else?

I did the pattern 1.87 don't know why it's not pulling up. works ok for me, when they said... "all aboard for the computer train"... I missed it.

Aok I noticed the one here is not the same size as the one you sent me. Try uploading it again, file should be about 3meg in size.

I'm trying to post this again if it don't work I don't know what else to do..

File is too large to post here.

bergerud

Only half of it has to be posted. Delete the flipped patterns. If I remember, 1.6 Mb is the limit for mpc.

eelamb

Dan did not think of that but again it is too big. (1.66meg)
I will say it again, it is sad that images of 4meg can be uploaded (learn to reduce the sizes) but PTN and MPC files are less than 2 meg.

Can You maybe give me a quick lessen in how to reduce the file?

bergerud
12-10-2013, 09:37 AM
Nice table. Useful to know instead of the trial and error I do! It does seem poor that mpc and ptn do not have larger limits. And why is there no stl or mpw? With the stl importer and the new 3d tools, maybe it is time for a review of these file types and their sizes.

Dan when you are in the manage attachment screen in the upper right corner is a ?. Click on this and it will give you this table.
STL files are normally quite large, that is my guess as to why it is not included.

I will use that now that I know, thanks.
