I know how expensive Dremel sanding and buff wheels can be. I have found an alternative widgetsupply.com. For example 36 abrasive buff wheels cost $15.97. I've used them and they do a nice job. For us Canadians, they will ship to Canada.

Hey Duncan... Do you know if those wheels wind up coloring the wood? Just wonder if they do it like the "green pads" that I have cut up & tried to use before.

Hi Jerry,

I've had color from those type of wheels transfer to the wood, although in every case it wasn't anything that would ruin a project if it's going to be stained or painted. This is such a good price, I might order some anyway (thank you for the link, Duncan!). As you know, I much prefer the thin (usually stacked three on a mandrel) 3M discs overall, as I have more control during finishing sanding of nooks and crannies. However, these larger buff wheels are great for passing over an entire surface (not so much for getting into tight spots - that's usually when the "color transfer" happens - applying more 'force' to get into crevices and such).

The 3M radial brushes can be found very cheap just have to wait long time shipped from China in 100 piece packs. http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=3M+RADIAL+BRISTLE+&catId=&initiative_id=SB_20131209080136

I just kinda of wonder if they are actually "3M"... or Chinese knock-offs?

I think they are "copies". The 3M ones have the 3M logo molded into the plastic body of each radial brush. (I don't see the 3M logo on the photos of the Chinese ones). I am interested in hearing some feedback from those who try them.

I have purchased some of the grey 1" ones do not remember if 3M is on them but will check tonight. They have worked good so far. Have not used much yet to see if they last a long time.

Something to keep in mind that I recently learned.......... If possible to set the speed on your dremmel, set it at a slower speed (that can still do the job) and you'll notice that the disks last much longer. I have some that are lasting much longer because of this. I wish I would have known this long ago. : )

At 30 dollars for 100, I think I may give them a go. I will report in 2 months when they arrive off the boat from china.

So do they give a shipping time frame? Is it really 60days?

I was just being funny. Probably why I am not a standard comedian. I would think 2-3 weeks.

The cordless ones seem to have a lower low speed than the standard plug in ones.

So I guess it does take about a month to get here. Ships within 5 days. I guess they need a few days to rub off the 3M on the disks they have to ship out. LOL

I haven't experienced any color transfer to the wood so far. Also the delivery was quite fast

3M is not on wheels but still seem to work well.
