Newest creation, Care Bear blanket chest

Just finished this commissioned piece. Solid red oak blanket chest, cedar lined. Measures 33 x 23 x 19" tall. The lid was made from quartersawn stock to help keep it flat, along with the stiff backs; it weights 20 pounds on it's own. It has torsion hinges from Rockler which allows the lid to stay in any position like a laptop. Lid was carved in two halves. The front I was able to do the front in one carve then glue the extra width on each side. Had to build an extra large jig to cut the box joints on the router table. Handles were hand shaped from 8/4 stock. Think it came out pretty good!
