On a few of my projects the wood has chipped off where it get very thin in edges. What do you use to refill the chipped area before painting?

If you are going to paint over it, Bondo auto body filler works great. I use it all the time to repair wood that has deteriorated or been damaged. It comes as a two part mix, and you can fill, mold and sculpt as needed. You can even put a wood grain look into it while it's still soft. It's an epoxy type mixture, so have ventilation and work quickly. It will harden in several minutes, depending on how much you are filling. Once it's painted you'll never know the difference. You can pick it up at Lowe's or any of the other supply stores. You can apply it with a strip of wood (I use shims) or whatever you want. Good luck and let us know how it does for you.
