Cut path question

It has been several months, so I guess my old brain doesn't remember the "rules" for using CUT PATH. In the attached, can anyone tell me why I can't cut a path in the design I have? What am I missing here?

By the way, I have Designer 1.187.

To use the cut path tool it needs to be a closed path, no open ends. On yours you would need to draw a line connecting the bottom end points of your bell shape.

If you are trying to cut this out without closing in the bottom you can simply assign a bit using the select a bit function. Just remember that if you do it that way that the program does not automatically put in tabs.

Also, you are using mirror which you cannot use to make a connected curve. Undo the mirror, copy half, paste, flip, join, and then connect the bottom, as Floyd says, with a line segment. (I also made the other points tangent by double clicking on them. This makes the connections smooth.)
