There is a thread that mentioned a few different ways. I use function+print screen. Then paste into paint.net. then I crop it and save. Thats what works for me. Others have mentioned the snipping tool.

You click on file and save as, and choose a location on your hard drive (folder) to save it in. Snipping tool is the best way to go if yo have vista or win7.

I use snipping tool a lot. It is easy and you can select only the pattern area.

I run windows 7 and it came with that. Not sure if it is in win 8 or not. Easy way to find out is click on your "start" button and in the input box type "snipping".

Good news Windows 8 does have the snipping tool. That is a cool feature never new i had it Thanks guys!!!!!! It is a little different to find than in other programs due to not having a start button on win 8... When it boots up it brings you to a start screen,,, you need to put curser in a non selective area of screen and right click the mouse that will then take you to a menu bar at the bottom, there youneed to select the apps button. That will take you to a list of all apps and the snipping tool was there. I just pinned it to the start screen bar and will be handy to get to... Thanks again guys..

Pose your project first. Rotate it until the light and the depth of the carve show their best. I use a purchased screen shot tool, not expensive, but it does a lot of stuff including scrolled windows pages. I paste the screen shot in Word with notations and email that.
