View Full Version : How to create a larger draft

I've created a ring, and applied "draft" to the edge. I see there are several settings to the draft, and I set it to Large.
However, I want to draft to be even larger. My wood is 3/4" thick, and I want to draft of the ring to go all the way down the sides of the ring...all the way to the bottom. The full 3/4".

Anyone know how to do this?

This is probably best done by creating a pattern. What is the top and bottom dimmensions you are looking for? This can probably also be done with the 3d tools, but should be easy enough with a simple grayscale pattern.

Top of the draft is 3.97 diameter, and bottom is 4.97 diameter....so an inch difference.

Not sure if this is on the lines of what your looking for...

Ok, how about this? This a pattern created by sweep in 2.002, made into a pattern and placed on a board in 1.187.

Ok, it looks like both you and Doug accomplished what I'm after....however it doesn't look like I can adjust anything.
Can you explain how you did it, Doug, or create it in such a way that I can adjust the top and/or bottom circle, and have the draft still go from top to bottom.

Berg, since you used Sweep, it stands to reason that I won't be able to adjust an file like that.....

What graphic tools do you have to work with? I did mine with corel draw, but the same thing can be accomplished with gimp, inkscape, illustrator, and probably a bunch of other freeware or commercial programs. As you can see from the png, it is just a solid black circle that fades to white (gradient fill) over the specified distance.

Is seems possible for a person to create what they want using the 3d tools in demo mode, save it and then post the mpc. Then someone on the forum with the 3d tools can create a pattern from it and re-post it. I do not think we have tried that yet.

In demo mode you can not save.

So much for that! I thought only the card upload was restricted.

Yes that would have been nice.

It actually did work that way in earlier version of the software. As long as they user didn't try to change the centerline text, it would allow them to carve a project that was created by someone else who had centerline.
