I have noticed that when I import a DFX file from adobe illustrator that it imports 2 lines. on directly on top of the other. I think this is something that adobe illustrator is doing, but I don't know how to correct it. can anybody help with this issue?

I have seen the same thing and can not tell you why for sure. In the DXF import program I just delete the duplicates..

I have gotten the same with coreldraw -I hypothesize that it may be an issue when corel draw "outlines" the individual lines and gives it an inside and an outside on the line even when they are for all practical points on top of each other. I figure a little operator error on my part is also a factor.

Just my guess anyway,

In corel, make sure you set you line thickness to hairline. You will only get one individual line for each element.
