Hello all,

I purchased a sanding mop from Carvewright and recently have been trying it while I'm waiting for parts for my machine. I have a 2/3 horsepower drill press and have never had an issue with it. When I put in the sanding mop, it turns fine no issues until I go to put a piece of wood on it. pushing against it causes it to stop completely. I use this same drill press to polish using compounds and a wheel with no issues. I can press on them as hard as I want. Any ideas of what is causing the mop to stop.

Thanks

Are you saying the motor stalls?

I had a similar problem with a craftman's drill press the set screw on the pulley was loose.. its always the simple things that make it hard.

I thought it was the same thing, but I changed the belt and checked everything else. Bert, ya it causes it to slow to a stop. Pull the wood away and it starts right back up

some motors have two starters so to speak. One that boosts it to start. And another that gives it a boost when under load. It could also be a voltage supply problem. Are you using an extension cord?

So after getting my carvewright running I began trouble shooting this issue. Now I feel like an idiot as it turned out the sanding mop nut wasn't tight.

If we were to start a thread with "dumb things we've done" we would have probably over 100 pages....If everyone was honest... ;)

I meant total of all members...so if we add your 99.8 pages, we are probably closer to 150.. ;)
