I check and clean my machine before I use my machine almost every day.
This is what I found in the right front corner of the machine, yes it was a bird or mouse nest.
I saw a leaf lying on the rubber belts, so I pick it up and some more came with it. here is the results.
I'm laying a trap for what ever comes back tonight.

I looked at the photo first and you had named it mouse in machine. I'm going "oh, no it's not"!!! I thought it was the mouse until I read that it might be a mouse nest.

I use the machine almost every day, I just don't take the sides off too often.

Now that is something - better check the wiring in the areas where you found it.

You don't want anything to short out.

I can believe it... living in the south there's all kinds of varmints looking for a home and it seems as if you have a carve buddy I don't think I'd kick him out try to figure out what he is and make him a home next to it I think he might wanna learn how to use it!!!.lol

I can imagine a mouse living in the machine while it's running, as it so loud. probably forging during the day and when you turn the machine off it'll
come home.

Mouse traps baited with a peanut always works for me.

I set 2 mouse traps last night and no catch. after looking at the nest, I think it is a bird.
a couple of times I have had birds fly in and then can't get out to easy.

I repaired one,, that was a nest of mice and they eat the wires on the key board side lol

if I had my choice I'd rather it be birds then mice a least they wouldn't be chewing on wires ...but then they might need nesting materials and those wires might be inviting for a nest...either way not good!!

I want to know what type of wood you have been carving Perry?

The funny part is, there was hardly any wood shaving in the nest, it was most long stems
from some of my wife's flowers and small leaves also. normally I keep the shop doors closed
because of the noise and houses are close. When my wife does her yard work she keeps the
doors open most of the day and the birds could have gone in and made a nest.
The plot thickens.
