are you asking about wood?

Corian is pretty hard (as are Jatoba and Mesquite (Janka 2350 or so). I've carved them with no problem on the higher carving settings (taking smaller passes)

George,

For Wood, Sharp Bits and Optimal Settings and you should be fine. It slows down the cutting.

Plastic... Not officially designed for Plastic.. You could break something as the feed rate is too fast.

I have a peice of Monkey Apple {Lincania sparsipilis} 3570 Janka.
Have not carved it yet, but intend to. It should be able to.

I have some Brazilian Teak that I am dying to carve. Brazilian Cherry is also damn hard! But new bit and optimal settings. Came out so smooth, didn't have to sand it. And the surface my new 15" planer (which definitely let me know it didn't like the Brazilian Cherry!) left a surface so smooth it didn't need to be sanded either! That is the real advantage to using hardwoods. My planer will usually cut a 14.5" Oak glue-up like it was pine. 12" long shavings! But I took the first pass on the Braz. Cherry, and it bogged so bad I had to crank it up before it stalled! I will definitely be taking things real slow with the Teak!
