I tried the arsenal that I know and punched in all kinds of numbers, tried the merge and can't seem to get the text lower, I would like to get text about .062 can you explain what I need to do....thank you.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but have you tried just holding on the box with text in it and pull it smaller.

Maybe I do not understand what you want, but, just change the depth until the text disappears and then come up 1/16. Something like 0.23 ?

The text "Coffee" is at about a .25 high off the board it's chipping away parts of the lettering I need to get the text not as high so it won't chip away the lettering. thanks

So just change the depth to 0.23.

Or add draft and reduce height.

well I found the magic number for the text height of .35 now for the life of me I can't remember how to get the patterns on the left hand side of the screen I only did that once.......I'm the type that has to do it 25 times to remember I still have 24 more times to go...lol

At 0.35 the text vanishes. I thought 0.25 was nice. (And that is depth not height)

View - Toolbars - check Carving List.

Set the merge to "Normal" on the object that the text is on. Then set the text to merge "additive". Then try different height and depth settings on the text.

A wise designer once told me. Make everything the same depth and the use height to adjust height. Not depth. When you raise the text above the project they are hanging in space and you'll get chip out much easier. The merge function helps the text conform to the shape. So set all three to .361 the spline the pattern and the text. Change the text to merge positive. You'll notice the text now follows the contour of the cup.

Good advice. The text did follow the contour of the cup but the draft did not work. Now I understand why: 0 height. Thanks Bert. Aokweld101, you should give it a try. Bert is right, it is a better method.

Thanks Dan. But I can't take credit, just sharing one of many techniques I learned from here. That one is Ed Lamb.

I noticed last night that the dept was at .361 that's why I thought the .35 looked pretty good... I was going up on the numbers I started at .031 and it wasn't going to well, that's when I asked for help then you told me to watch for the pattern to disappear witch was good advice it gave me a starting point...so what I'm getting at is that I've learned two new things last night...text height and the carving list... thanks gentlemen..
