Hello everyone the Keurig is a fine coffee maker but storing the k-cups is a pain. I am not happy with the storage solutions I have found on line. Most have a very small loading capacity. It would be best if it held two varieties and between 24 and 54 k-cups as that is how many come in the bigger boxes. Does anyone have or know of a pattern for a k-cup holder. I can make something when given dimensions but have a hard time with the design part. Kind of like the fabrication design guys for the Star Wars Movies. Someone brought the a picture of a spaceship they wanted built and asked if the guys could build it. They said sure what are the dimensions? That is me all over :D

I have thought about this several times as we have one too, just haven't reached the point where I decided to go ahead and design something. Maybe Michael Tyler can be convinced to make one for a POM?

I don't even know what a k-cup holder is...I can google it later. Could a project based on the cup holders have a fairly wide appeal?

+1 for the K-Cup holder. It would be a very popular project and would appeal to alot of people.

Michael,

I do not have a K-cup coffee machine but Walter dose and it seems to besomething that a lot of people have or are getting in to. One can just brew onecup at a time.

Maybe a POM of a coffee cup holder with an area to put the k-cups in.

Perhaps a shelf area for the coffee cups to set or hang and the angled slot forthe different K-cup to be stored in.

I'm a +1 also... pretty much everyone in my family has a Keurig (or compatible) brewer now, not to mention many of the smaller clients I do consulting for... I'm envisioning "valued customer" gifts around the x-mas season. If you do take this one MT, try to include a smaller 2x4 area that can be used to customize these (company logos ect) if possible!

Heck yes.... That would be awesome. I've had a Keurig for years & making a double or triple deck carousel that can be personalized would be beyond Kewl & a big hit for many I'm sure.

Not a CW project, but thought it appropriate to share - given the discussion. Client wanted a K-Cup holder and is a collector of rolling pins. She wanted to marry the two - and this is what I ended up with.

Never touched the stuff, but picked up this little thing for the wife, who does drink, for Christmas. Think it was only $15

Here's my version, holds 72 k-cups, built about a year ago. The internal cup-holders are 1/8" oak ply with CW cut holes, angled back to keep the cups from falling out due to their shape. The door carving is maple. Two 3/4 x7 1/4 planks were taped together, then carved, giving me perfectly matched design across the two doors. The rest is three simple Oak boxes built with rabbets and dadoes. At the time they were built using my table saw, but could be programmed for the CW. The Coffee Cup and Beans are a model purchased from VectorClip 3D (thanks Norbert!!). I hope that this might spark some ideas.

That is cool! I like the way you carved the doors, that was a great idea.

This is clearly a high capacity assault coffee magazine and might not be legal in all locations! Looks good, though.

I know of several people in my family that would love one of those. Really like the design on the front....and yes, Norbert's patterns are some of the best.

Been visiting my newest grandson and without internet over the weekend so just now getting to see the responses. Seems to be a lot of interest in k-cup holders. Brent that really looks good, any chance of you sharing where you got the coffee design. Tom

Silly me, Brent I just went back and reread your post in which you did indeed share where you got the pattern. Still a fantastic job. Question though: How does one get the Vectric 3d patterns into a form compatible for a CW? Tom

Thanks to all for the great comments. It is indeed a mega-magazine. We here have a couple of stores that stock over 100 different types of k-cups, and also sell them as "mix and match", so you can try samples of everything without committing to a 12, 18 or 24 size box. That is the reason I made it so large. Easy enough to just make regular doors for the rear box, cutting the size down to 36 from 72.

Radmann5506: When I first signed on with Vectorclip3D, the only way to use the patterns a to download STL's and use the STL importer. Now many (if not all) are available as PTN's. I have subscribed for 2 years. It's now $250 for a year, with 10 downloads per day (other plans are available, and no I am not a Vectorclip Certified Referring Agent like Ringneck Blues and Capt. Bruce). I've downloaded over 4000 patterns for less than $500 over the 2 years. I still get the STL's because I also have Aspire 4.0

Mr. downeast, did you ever make this into a carvewright pattern? Would love to make this for kitchen. I do not have a shop, only carve wright, chain saw, and sander. lol So pattern would be great. I found vector 3d shop and can buy pattern but box eludes me.

Sorry, but no box pattern. It was constructed mainly using my tablesaw, with the CW used only for the cupholders, cutting out the circles from 1/4 oak plywood, and of course for carving the doors. The pattern on the doors is a commercial pattern so is copy protected.

Just because it may not be copy PROTECTED doesn't necessarily mean you can share. He already said it was a commercial pattern therefore it is protected by a copyright. The owner may not like it.

Didn't someone do a coffee cup for his wife's office and post it in the pattern depot? I think so. Autobodyman or eramran?

That site is difficult. Any tips for using it. I get crossed eyed looking thru it. Even the pattern depot.... I have looked and looked for the shadow box pattern or display box and can't find it. I found some shutters. Maybe Lawrence was referring to them. On the up side I did see some wonderful patterns, just not what i was looking for.
