All very nice. What size did you do the Last Supper? I just did one at 15x9 and it turned out very nicely, although the detail on the frame was tough to clean the gel stain out of.

I did a cut of the LS at 10" X 22" and it came out great. I've been reluctant to put a finish on it until I can do a couple of tests first. I ran a couple of 11" X 9" and will test finishes and some paints on them. I would like to use acrylics that have been thinned to almost translucent and see if it adds just the touch of color I'm looking for. I don't want anything very brightly colored on it. I'll post when I get it finished.

Ron, is there any tradition of using just a wax finish for wood over on your side of the pond ?
Perhaps a mix of beeswax and carnuba, then stiff brush polishing to give just a faint lustre to the surface. Especially for items like the LS, where no protection from liquids or kid's sticky fingers are required. :)

Hey Newcarver.
I also did a Last supper. Did 2 actually, one oak, one maple. The maple carved better on this project for me anyway. How did you set the CW to carve out the frame as you did? Mine is like the other LS posted here but would like to carve one all the way out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Jimmy Gee

I used the bandsaw on mine. But after watching Jon Jantz video, just click-select LS, Tools > Outline Pattern(s), then Cut Path > Flip Cutout.
