So let me get this straight. If I get the CarveTight upgrade the decorative bits that I bought for the quick change chuck should be thrown in the back of my shop because the collets need to be machine pressed? If that is the case that is a waste of $300. I only see the 1/4" split collet.

nope, your thinking is off the mark a bit

the 1/2 inch bits will fit just fine... no pressed on needed as the shaft fits into the carvetight hole.

the 1/4 inch bits can use an adapter (the only bits that "require" to be machine pressed are the carbide shaft ones... the cutting and carving bits)

Both can be length controlled by several methods, but they sell rings on the website too.

As to whether the decorative bits should be thrown in the back of your shop... I certainly don't use them very often as many different (other than CW) bits can be used. My most oft used bit is a v60 CMT bit from Amazon as I find it gives a GREAT v-carve. Choose carefully to ensure the bits can be plunged.
