Finished gold leafing and sealing the first sign...it was carved on both sides out of clear heart redwood. It was done with a carve region and then raised lettering. It is 12 inches high and 36 inches wide. 61542 The two other signs will be hang tags below this one that advertises the name of the store.

I like your sign carrothers, but just how hard was it to gold leaf?

The sign is very nice and the gold leaf on the crown really sets the whole sign off. The Rustic fonts also helps make the sign unique.

My compliments on the design and your beautiful gilding. I always love to see that used to set off a 3D design. Did you apply the gold prior to or after your top protective coating? I'm always interested in learning from what works well for others. Thanks

After taking it out of the machine...put four courts of marine grade varnish sanded in between coats with scotch brite pads, then painted the letters and barb wire and trim brown with Home Depot latex exterior paint. Then gold leafing was done on the crown, and then two coats of clear marine expoxy (Alwgrip Albrite varnish). The clear varnish goes over everything including the gold leafing. Letters had to be free handed without taping...so take a couple of good shots of bourbon and get a steady hand and go for it.

I will post the two hang tags that match as soon as they are finished.
