A friend asked me to build him a Leopold Bench - never heard of it.....

A google search will tell you about the legacy of the bench - it's pretty cool. Easy to find plans.

Friend's initials on the frontside, and a tribute to George Nessmuk on the back.

Good old construction grade material, $27 in it.

The only mod I made was to put a 45 degree chamfer on the bottoms of the legs - helps prevent splitting when moving the piece around.

Would make a great craft fair offering.

You know, although I used 2" pin nails to get the thing together before I bolted/screwed it together, you could easily take the back off, and carve it right there for the customer if you chose.

Print off some info from the 'Net regarding the background of the bench to hand out to prospective customers, and you could probably get $100 a pop.

After building my first one, I'm sure I could get them done (without the carving time) in about three hours.

One hint - a 10' 2x10 will give you enough wood for the seat, and the back (assuming you can cut that 2x10 down to a 2x6). One 8' 2x8 will give you enough for the legs.
