I have a larger sign going to Costa Rica, can anyone suggest the type of wood I should use. I was thinking maple or oak? Most of the wood will be painted over with colors. It is for a coffee company. Thank you for your suggestions.

If the sign is for out doors RedWood with epoxy glue up quarter sawn. This is what I glue panles for the big boys with CNC 4x5 and bigger. For inside any thing quarter sawn so there is no grain lift with temp. change. I have glued up sign's as big as 4 feet x 23 feet. this is on Caseno DU Hull

Glad to help. If you need some help with an easy way for 2 sided signs let me know .2 inch thick its not hard to do.

Just my $0.02... I don't have access to redwood around here, so I use White Oak for anything outside... quartersawn preferably. I try to find stuff with as few rays as possible, it's a terrible waste to use nicely figured stuff for outside.

White Oak is good but is a lot heavier so cost for shipping is more. The acid in oak will turn White to gray in no time
