Hi all- I can hardly believe it myself, but I have never taken the cover off my Carvewright... I'm genuinely a noob when it comes to the nuts and bolts of this thing and am feeling a bit lost.

I'm sitting right at 250 hours right now and could use some advice on what I should order for my machine. Here is what I have -

1x Carvewright B version- with rock chuck

1x Compucarve A version- with QC - broken LCD, malfunctioning sensor. I bought it broken (used) but haven't done much other than clean it, and cannablize a flexshaft and sensor from it.

2x extra sandpaper belts

6x little bearings I got as a gift/in trade... not sure what they are for but they are about 1cm across and are for the CW

Both flexshafts are due a good lube and I do have about 2 cans of liquid wrench with moly (the old formula). I also have plenty of all of the lubricants recommended
waay back when in a tips and tricks article

------------------------------

I would REALLY appreciate a list of what you would order parts-wise if you were in my shoes... So far I'm thinking I should get bushings & another flex shaft. I'm not really sure
what I can cannabalize from the old machine or if it would be better to fix it up and sell it... (or just sell it as broken...) and could use some advice.

I'm excited to do more to my machine than just blow it out and rub some lube on the rails and will take all the advice I can get. I also feel I should get
to know this machine a bit more from the inside... it has done really well by me for the first 250 hours of my carvewright experience and I want to keep it that way!

I truly appreciate it,

Humbly yours,
Lawrence

Y gear box bearings --- these might be the ones you got in trade

Y and Z bearings -- a set of 2 each of the fixed and adjustable for when you do have a problem. Change out only if you find the movement rough and jerky and not able to clear it by cleaning/lubing bearings and rails. http://store.carvewright.com/product.php?productid=16179&cat=388&page=1

Lawrence, I have gotten advice from You and sure appreciate all the advice you have given me,.. on mantaining the machine you will need to replace the brushes on the cut motor its rcomended at about 250 hrs, the six bearings that you have I would think that they go on the y truck the one that goes up and down, if they shake or have movement in them then I would change them but wouln't think that there is anythinng would be wrong at 250 hrs., the flex shaft which i think is important to clean and lube it frequetly I've got gotten 600 hrs on mine and have change the brushes 3 times and changing them again tomorrow do all your censor checks. check head pressure, board sensor, x , y & z motors.... if I don't know how to push the buttons I feel good about working on the machine...lol

HI Lawrence,

You said you had a broken LCD - Here is the link to one that is back lit plus the the tapered screws for the roller bearings http://www.soigeneris.com/parts_and_improvements-list.aspx

Also here is a link for the Y gear box bearings - http://www.avidrc.com/product/1/bearings/170/5x11x5-Metal-685ZZ-bearings.html
Takes 2 bearings to rebuild the gear box.

Floyd covered most everything else and follow the maintenance checklist.

I would add the Y belt Tensioner Assembly instead of just the pulley - http://store.carvewright.com/product.php?productid=16171&cat=255&page=4

Also would add a set of roller bearings to the list - 1 set of each type.

I would also blow out and adjust the cover switches as well if needed.
