I' wanting to put a line under the text how do I attack that problem...

and if I wanted it raised i guess that I would... invert it I"m assumeing..

Inverting a line would be too simple! But you are close! Make a line assign the bit. Put the line in a group in your carving list. Now right click on the group and choose make pattern. After saving your pattern so you remember where it is, load it back on the board. Delete the line you drew. Now you can use invert... on the pattern you created!
