I was thinking about repeated accuracy of the machine. When I worked in a printshop many decades ago we used printers registration marks, those little crosshairs that get cut off the finished printing.

I was thinking it would be easy to implement with the CW.
If we draw a perpendicular line, over 3.5 inches from one side we can use that as a reference, This would be good for sleds and carrier boards too.
If we mounted a laser pointer on the no keyboard side of the machine pointing at an angle towards the home position we could manually jog the board to whatever home position we set up.
The laser would bisect the reference line.
Any lateral variance would be elliminated by butting the sled, carrier or board up to the edge of the machine.
It would be handy if the power ever failed on the machine and you needed to reregister your work.

The reason I suggest puttin the laser on the opposite side is the home position would not be blocked by the spindle and the bit.
