I have a major problem.
Once I start cutting everything is fine for the first half inch, then it starts cutting deeper and deeper, just like the router bit has come loose, if I let it go, having the depth set for .065 it will cut through 3/4 stock then stall.
What is my problem?

What flavor of wood are you trying to cut through. You might want to try putting a backer board on the underside of your carving...

This sounds like a problem with the Z-axis encoder (assuming your mpc file is OK). Some machines have had this problem which is usally traced back to a loose ribbon cable and/or a bad Z-axis encoder. I had to replace my Z-motor pack. As I understand it they have solved the mfg issue causing these problems. You can check for the cable problem your self. Search the troubleshooting section there is a recent posts with good pictures.

check the tension of the Z belt as well.. (the vertical one behind the bit)

if it is loose, you may need to tighten the 4mm allen screw with the tension spring above it.

Thanks for the help. The trouble must have been the belt.
Adjusted the tension and all is well once again.

Thanks again.
