3/8 jointing bit

I have a design the calls for a 3/8 jointing bit. Is that the same as a 3/8 straight bit? I looked in the Carvewright Store and they do not list a jointing bit.

Yep! it is the same bit. It used often to make Dadoes and such, so they call it the Jointing bit.

Thats what I thought, just seems strange that in the bit selection window it comes up as 3/8 straight and on the machine it asks for 3/8 jointing.

This may show up twice as the web page went flaky and didn't show my post...

Make sure you use a PLUNGE bit with a cutter on the BOTTOM of the Bit... I use a after market 1/4 inch shank Plunge Bit for Signs. I use a single stroke font in outline mode.

I also use the Plunge Bits to make a SLOT Board. Using overlap in small increments. It's a quick reference board, match the hole in the board and look at the numbers on the mpc. Since it is CUT in Wood it gets bigger and smaller with Humidity. It gets me close faster.
