I would like to share some news on Kenm810. After communicating with him and asking his permission, I would like to inform everyone that Ken has pancreatic cancer and is receiving treatments for the disease. Ken was the first person that helped me when I bought my Compucarve,(Carvewright), in '07, first with building a downdraft cabinet, then with numerous problems with patterns. As any member whose been here for any length of time knows, Ken would help anyone with there problems. Now it's time for us as a community to step up and help, by sending a prayer to Ken and his family for a speedy recovery.

Please God place your healing hand on Ken and help him through this time of need. He has been there to help others, now is the time to pay that assistance back. We ask that You be with him and his family as he goes through treatment and with Your support we know he will emerge victorious. In Jesus name, Amen!

I spoke with Ken (Maurin) the same day that Gary did, and Gary beat me to starting this thread.
I think that Ken scans the forum a few times a week, but the chemo-therapy and
drugs affect people in unhelpful ways, and it makes it difficult for him to post.

However, it sounds as though he gets out more than I do, and is relatively active.

Ken expressed concerns about how his absence might be viewed by other forum
members and wanted it known that he still cares, but things get in the way.
I know that he misses both participating on the forum and using his CW!

He sounds great and has a great outlook but claims that "chemo-brain" is no fun.
He also mentioned that some forum members, that obviously don't know him, had
wondered if he might be the one selling "free" patterns on eBay; I wanted to assure
those people that that wouldn't happen!

I do not think that he wants anything other than understanding of his circumstances.
I also believe that some thoughts and prayers on his behalf would be sincerely appreciated.

Actually I think it is a great tragedy that the person selling patterns, forced Ken to remove all of the great patterns he shared. The loss of his shared art is a big loss to the community. Again, I have been keeping him in my prayers. Get well soon Ken! We need you here!

It is with great sadness that I share with you all the passing of Ken Maurin (kenm810) on Nov. 22, 2014. This forum and our community would not be what it is today without his participation and eagerness to help teach others how to use the system.

Ken would post innovative and seemingly impossible (at that time) to create projects and then ask you to guess how he did it. I'm not sure many of us ever figured out how he did a lot of things until the "here's how" part of the lesson.
It is a sad day, he will be missed.

Ken,Thank you for all your help, inspiration, encouragement, and patterns. You will truly be missed by the entire forum. And thank you for my downdraft table, still using it, not as effective as some other systems, but at the time it was state-of-the-art. Your the man Ken, rest in peace.

Saddened by the news of Ken's passing. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. Was always impressed with his deftness at design work, but more so at his seemingly unwavering willingness to help others. Certainly a pillar of the forum that will be missed...
