I need someone to make a fairy simple pattern for me. Can Anyone help?

The parts are 3/4" deep and I want to cut them out of a piece of wood.

The file is attached also.

Hope this is what you want. Perhaps someone will import it for you if you do not have the dxf importer. Once imported, assign the cutting bit to it with max pass of .125, and depth of .75. Be sure to use a backer board and hold the boards together with double back tape.

Ok taking Floyds MPC file, adding the 1/16" straight bit, with inset, and max pass, at .75" deep this is what I came up with.
Butch this will be close to the right width of each piece. I suggest you carve one, check the width, change the inset and do it again until you get the proper width of each piece, then set each cutout to that inset and carve the board.

Thank you, thank you.

Shouldn't there be tabs at the bottom of the piece to prevent them from coming loose?

These are not done using the cut path. As I mentioned in the first post use double sided carpet tape to hold it in place and use a carrier board. Thus your cut out pieces will be stuck to the carrier board with the tape and hold in place while carving. Or you can remove the bit I placed on it and use the cut path tool so you will have the tabs. And another way is to make the tabs manually.

Eddie: I appreciate all of your help. I am a real novice at the pattern making. I would like to have the tabs and of course will still use a carrier board. I just don't know how to go about it.

Here is how the parts are being used.

Thanks again

here it is using cut path. You will not see the tabs but they will be there when it carves. It uses the 1/8" bit with each pass at .125 cut depth. You will not need a carrier board to cut this one.
You will need to bevel the center part, and cut the angles on the runner ribbon by hand.

cuts will never cut into the belts. The bit moved in the y axis between the front and back belt.

Eddie & Floyd:

Thanks so much for your help. Here is how the first use of the pattern worked out. I really appreciate your assistance.

Have finally had enough of the unreliability of the CarveWright. Am going to sell it and get something more reliable and from somewhere that provides customer service.

That box turned out incredible!

I agree. It sure did. Is that stained different colors or is the wood layered. I can't tell. Beautiful either way.

the center piece I cut out was too big to place at an angle. which mpc did you use? I assume you laminated three pieces to get the results you got....looks awesome....

That box looks great!

I hope you will reconsider your getting out of the CW world- it's Christmastime and lots of companies are getting a day off here and there so their employees can spend time with their families. Perhaps your dissatisfaction is due to this?

What problems are you having; maybe we can help....

Lawrence

Rickyz, look at the first post. Angles have to be manually cut n the center section, and the V has to be cut manually on the tips of the ribbons so it fits.

See post 10 for the mpc. and post 9 for instructions sheet Butch posted.

Ribbons are 1/4" strips of walnut & maple glued together & then cut out.

Yep, real serious.

The center piece has to have 4 small champhers sanded to get it to fit at 45 degree angle.

Cut motor just quit between carves. Can't get parts from LHR. Can't tell me when they will. No bits, no brushes & no cut motors! Sick and tired of machine breakdowns & no service!. 145 hours on machine and it's been back to LHR & down more than it runs. LHR doesn't seem to care either.

Not quitting, just moving on to a more reliable machine that doesn't require constant repairs and from a company that carries parts and provides service.

Wow, can't believe the price a used machine is fetching. Scanner software, purchased patterns etc, wont even work for new owner. It's getting close to new price, to bad u have so much tied up in repairs, while I have had some issues I have not had enough to get rid of machine I just added two hundred hours cutting time from oct to now, maintenance time coming up.

The retail price on what I am providing is over $2700.00 and the bid is currently at $1399.00. That's hardly close to a new price!

This thread has some real curves.
I have three machines all running great, two over 2000 hours, very few problems I can't solve with the LHR outstanding service!

TerryT

Hmmm.......
The parts must be on that proverbial "slow boat from China". LOL
Sorry, I should be cleaning my shop now that things have slowed down, instead of making silly posts.
Hopefully the new year will arrive with all the parts we need to keep on keepin' on.

Bits are available from a couple of 3rd party places.

I haven't checked EBAY ( haven't had to order parts except for a Y axis belt in over a year) but you should be able to find brushes there I think.

Hopefully LHR will remain solvent for a good, long time.

Both of my machines have been running great for several years. My A machine is 6 years old now and my B machine is about 3 or 4.

EDIT
If LHR does go belly up I will be buying used carvewrights. If anyone wants to sell.
