Am restoring an antique table. It had some appliques on the ends that were broken. I didn't have a carvewright at the time so thought I would just have to find something else but now that I do.... Anyway, I got a photo of the applique, but I don't have the software to be able to draw the missing parts. Is there anyone that may be able and willing to help me with this? I am posting a the photo of the part. Original was about 5" high.56992

If KenM sees this perhaps he will chime-in.
He described what he has done in another old post by creating a flexable mold on the object.
Then he filled the mold with asubstance that is hard enough to scan - presto, an exact pattern.

There are several sites that sell those supplies.

It doesn't have to be exact, just even something similar would be cool. I just have the basic design software and don't even know how to run it much or I would try it myself. Hard part is adding in the broken parts.

I guess it did kind of look like a crest, never thought of that. No idea who it would be, bought the table from a facebook buy sell trade page. Unfortunatly since I had no possibility of recreating it at the time, I just removed them from the table in several pieces so they are long gone, all I got is the pic. No markings on the table except something hand written that best I could tell said 1948. Anyway, just thought since I got the capability to carve now it might be nice to do something similar if possible.

After looking at the design more I realize I could do much better but I don't really have the time right not.

Alan filled in the blanks, I took his gray scale, traced it and came up with this. Hope it works for you Darren. I emailed it to you already.

Thanks guys, Darren liked it. Since cnc carver asked, here is the ptn file. Maybe someone else can use it. Actually it still needs the ribbon across the center dome. But I kind of like it better without it.

Thanks Leo, Capt Barry, Chief, cnc carver and Lawrence. I was trying to figure out the missing pieces when Alan posted his image. He nailed it, I was thinking the bottom curved up to the sides, but after seeing his and closer inspection I saw the what Alan saw.
