Here is the email I received today from carvewright. It took a few days for them to respond but I know they are probably overwhelmed right now. I hope this helps clear up some confusion.

Thank you for your purchase, and your patience with our response time. I
am glad you are enjoying the machine! The centerline text feature was
originally made available for our Beta customers only. Once we
beta-tested the machines, we realized that the centerline text function
was not ready to be put on the software, so currently no one has access
to the centerline text feature. We have however worked out the bug and
will be making it available to everyone at an additional price of $50.
This feature will be put on sale in about a month and will be available
on our website.

I wonder if this will be something that can be downloaded right after you purchase it, or is it gonna be something in which they have to snail-mail to you (i.e. can be placed on back order?)

Thank you for your patience with our slow response time. We have been
swamped since our machine hit stores. To answer your questions:

1. The centerline option will be available separately in about 1 month
for a price of $50. We do not have a set release date for the Advanced
software but we are projecting that it will be ready between mid-late 2007.

2. If you wanted to order a new lid, you would have to call us at
1-800-573-1226, although I do not know if we have any spare lids to
send. (We do not usually have that part as a replacement part separate
from the machine.) If you give us a call we can get you up to speed on
our current stock availability.
