I've read on a few posts that people had a hard time carving on dark wood, because of the board sensor. It is possible to carve on black walnut.

I've carved it with no problem. However some have and used a piece of masking tape at the board ends.

using a little tape (about an inch to an inch and a half) on the edges will let the sensor read it w/o problems.

Hello Bard,

I've seen the masking tape suggestion before, but remain unclear WHERE the tape is to be placed...do we run the tape completely around the entire perimeter of the board's edge (top or bottom edge?) , or "strategically" place (where?) just a few strips of tape?

Thanks in advance for your clarification.

I've only had to put tape on the edges and/or completley accross viod regions of the board at the place where the board sensor looks.
