Hello,

I am working on a special project for a friend. I was hoping to put on it a flying Eagle circling around clouds with rays of light coming out. Something like the voice of God coming down. I looked and can not find anything that matches that. Can anyone help? This is for a Godly man that means a great deal to me.

I did this eagle a while back:
56575

If you can find a nice set of clowds on google image search I could add it to this as a pattern for you. I could make sun rays easy enough, just let me know how you want things to line up. Maybe you could draw out a quick sketch and attach if you want.

It is going to be the lid of a box. Your image looks like a vulture to me. I do not mean to critisize however.

Sounds like criticism to me!! LOL56585 but it is definitely not a buzzard! It is actually a beautiful carving!

Looks kind of like a chicken with stars all over it. I could take out the stars. It would depend on the finish how good it looks.

I do appologize. I meant no disrespect. I appreciate your help. I was looking for an eagle like that flying into sun rays coming thru clouds. If that makes sinse.

Wow, that is exactly it. This is how I am using it. I do not know how to repay you. I attached the MPC if you wish to use it. This is my first attempt at make a box pattern. Thank you so very much. I put scripture on the inside cover of the lid that I think fits that.

Yeah! It's getting easier. Photoshop and Corel have brushes and layer modes that can do cool things too. Glad you all like the design. I never tried sun rays as a pattern so had to try it.

I wish I had the time to learn Photoshop or even Gimp. You guys make awesome patterns. Is it hard to learn how to do that stuff?

The box looks pretty good Ropdoc.

And yes It's hard to do that stuff. It also takes time to develop a good design sense.

I think Carvewright might make a new software package that utilizes brushes. If they do it will really add a lot of capabilities beyond what they already have. I have some good suggestions.

To paraphrase an old Aussie -

"That's not a chicken, THIS is a chicken"56606

Really it should be "That's not a chook, THIS is a chook" if it's an old Aussie saying.

Well I had to change the lid. When the first lid was done it had to much open space. So this is the final results. I just hope the customer is happy. Now to finish sanding, stain and clear coat.

This is the Jewelry tray I used. I just ask that you double check the dimensions. I was making changes and thought I saved the changes to a different location. I am in a hurry for Halloween.

I used a 3/16 cutter for this instead of the Carver. I like the results.

Well said! I think this all the time. My wife thinks I am nuts, because I will epoxy a loose knot, "Just use a different board", she says. But God put it there for a reason. I also carve pieces with missing knots! Like my sculptor friend says, "It was in the rock, I just removed everything that wasn't supposed to be there." Heck, I never choose a finish until the board tells me what it wants! Wait... maybe I am crazy! :)

So what do you use for joinery on these boxes? dowels? bisquits? I build a LOT of boxes, seems like I use something different on every one. Have become very fond of pocket screws lately if I can get away with it. Just wondering what you used. Nice box, can't wait to start doing stuff like this when I get my machine to work right.

Well I finished the box and the customer picks it up in a couple days.

I onle used glue to hold it together. Saving up for a Biscuit cutter.

Thank you all for you kind words. They are easy to make. I started with the Ornamental box in the store. Learned from that one and made my own. And believe me, if I can make one, anyone can.
