Need help!

I scanned this pattern for a friend and cant get it to work. What I want to do is cut out the pattern thats in black. What happens is when I place it on the board it wants to also carve out the back ground as well. I inverted the pattern to see if that would help but didnt. My scanned pattern is attached.

When you import the image press lower to eliminate the background

I did the cutout to the inside of the line. You can change it to the outside if that is what you want.

I would like to know how to post a new thread on making a spiral. The spiral tool is gone. Are there spirals in the pattern store?:)

When I imported the pattern I lowered it juat a bit and made it smaller. After it was on the board I selected it, made it a carve region and clicked on the "Pierced" checkbox. I also selected the "Best" setting for the bit optimization and removed any feathering. This method will take a little longer to carve and will leave a slight taper on the inside cut but, will probably give better results.
