I really hope I bought the right bit. It's 60deg with a 1/2 shank. Anyone?

It looks like my bit from Carvewright. How long is the shaft

1 inch ish. It fits in the rock chuck with a bit of head space. I guess I will find out tomorrow when I try it out.

Please post if it works. Was it cheaper than the Carvewright

that's the one I use in my rock chuck - I LOVE IT - (and yes, it's cheaper than the cw ones Leo, and I find easier to clean/touch up with a diamond stone) It cuts VERY sharp lines and can do some really tiny text.

I don't know- I don't have a carvetight-- but it is a 1/2 inch shank - I'm guessing it will work, but this is not from experience so I would wait for someone with a CT to answer

Yes the 1/2 shaft will work, just use the stop collar as you would normally do.

Agreed! That is the best V-bit I've ever used. I too, have been recommending the CMT 60° Laser-Point bit for a little over a year - a fellow ShopBot owner originally clued me in on that bit - it is superb for running the intricate V-carve projects I've created for Vectric/ShopBot. I have not personally run it in either of my CarveWright machines, though.

I stopped by the CMT booth at the IWF Atlanta show last week and told one of the Reps how much "we CNC guys" enjoy the quality of cut on the Laser-Point bit. I begged him to encourage the engineers to come out with a similar 90° "Laser-Point" V-bit - the point on the 60° is needle-sharp and wish there was a 90 with the same point. The Rep says a 90° angle may not be suited for a "needle-point"...otherwise, he thinks they would have had them available long ago!
