I'm trying a cut out but will not let me set the depth I will type in one inch and it keeps resetting to .8. i know I can go deeper than the board but why won't it let me?

Second, what version of the Designer software are you using? Have you upgraded to 1.185?
Third, what is the thickness of your designer board?
4th, it sounds as if you are applying something other than a true cut-path, using the cut-path Icon. Is this a true assumption?

A Cut Path has no 'Depth', it has a 'Maximum Pass Depth' which I usually set at .2 to keep from breaking cut bits.

I suspect you are trying a carve region or a simple vector cut where you are assigning a bit. This will result in what you are describing.

I just tested a 'Cut Path' (Button with hand saw graphic), on a project that was 1" deep and it worked fine. Recheck exactly the function you are using.

Hope this helps.. BTW: Reading the FAQ's, Tips & Tricks will help a lot.. It really helps with the software learning curve.

Oops...Max Cut Depth is a full 1" (when using the Cut Path Tool, the cutter will actually extend a little beyond/below a 1" thick board to give a clean cut)

Max Carve Depth is .82"

Just a guess, I think the issue is that he will need to set the project board size from 0.75" to 1.00" in the board preference menu first, then set the bit depth to 1".

I think, at this point it's up to sw123man to reply. We've given our thoughts, each without knowing the actual problem.

Our answers may well resolve the situation, but without a reply from the original poster, we will never know!
