What does 16 bit mean when purchasing a design?

the pattern has a higher resolution than prior patterns made before there was software upgrade a few versions back. That is a simple answer. Do a search of "16 bit" (in quotes) for a better answer.

It's like painting a picture with 8 colors or 16... The 16 would have more detail.... Just a generic theory but like posted.... IMPROVED... More Resolution.... Like the difference between a 1.3 Mpix Camera and a 12 Mpix Lens.... The Camera with the better or more Mpix or microscopic sensors... Will give a better picture.... Like the difference between a Newspaper Picture and a Color Magazine Picture... More is Better....
