Nice carvings - I think that once you are comfortable with your design and are ready to carve a "keeper" you will get better results using some hard maple or smiliar type wood. You will have less sanding to do. Other than that, your projects look great - just a little fuzzy (but I'm sure you already knew that"

You could have also rounded over the edges of the towel bar with your machine with the addition of a plunging roundover bit.

The picture frame look to be rounded on top , how did you do this?

I drew a trapezoid to cover each side of the frame, then applied a surface (dome) to each trapezoid. Made height 999 to start at the top and set depth as desired. I left a width of board all around, then cut off afterwards.

See attached example of one trapezoid with curved surface. Just make one for each side and add carved designs and a cutout for picture.
