I wonder if the carvewright software is just depth based or does it take the bit geometry into account? Say if we use the carving bit, the letter depth may make the angle of the bit cut away part of the top of the letter. I'd hope the software would make an adjustment to the depth around the letter in order to keep the letter width at the top constant.

Anyone know what's happening? Seems like my letters are a bit thinner at the top than designer shows them to be

just from pllaying with designer i have always used bold anf then that way they a little bit bigger to begin with.

The software does not take in bit geometry into account. They are looking at adding it to the software but I am not sure where it is on the list of importance. Only thing you can do is change the bit optimization to best right now but that doesn't guarantee that it won't break out think areas because of the bit taper.
