I just finished up the Lassen County Fair, my local fair I have been doing for 8 years now. Each year I gross about $1400.00 to $1500.00 not including the tax. Well as some of you know the wife and I have had a rough time last year and most of this year. The soda business we invested in well it was a big bust! Anyway I cancelled all my shows this year due to lack of funds. Well in April a fair friend bought (stole!) the soda wagon and is making payments.

The lassen County Fair called me and talked me into attending this years fair and with a soda payment I made the cost! I am so glad too!!!! I was up $1000.00 from last years $1400.00!! I sold 48 signs in 5 days and 23 with my CW and 25 by hand in my little portable shop! I had 4 big orders, 3 -12" by 48" and a 24" by 36" that was $875.00! That really through me off!! I have 3 signs to make still, but this year was great!

Earlier in the year I cancelled my credit card service and was not going to credit cards, but I ended up getting a "Square". It works great!!!! If anybody want to take credit cards and have a smart phone the Square is the way to go! www.square.com. They take all credit cards and all fees are 2.75% unless you input the card number then the cost is 3.75%. The square plugs into the ear phone port and you swipe the card with the square. The best thing is the fee is all the same and zero monthly or yearly fees!

Sorry I didn't take and photos of my signs I will add the ones I have to make this week. Here a photo of my shop! The one set up is an old one and the others with siding.

Ike, I typed out a big long post earlier. I guess I missed when I went to click the send button. Had a bunch on my mind today so pretend this post is #2 instead of page two.

Congratulations my friend. Secretly, I knew you would keep trying and finallly make it. Ya dun goot kid! We have missed your expertise around here and I am glad to see you post again.

On the Square CC reader... we have been using it for about a year and love it. I tried Intuit first and dumped them after the first sale. They are... well, just check intuits facebook page.

You can swipe as many cards as you like but if you manualy enter CC numbers you are limited to $1000 a week or they will hold your money for 30 days (they all do this) We had to get our limit raised a couple of times because we type in the numbers so often. They are easy to work with.

Thanks all, I was all set to do zero events and well the Lassen fair staff begged me!!! I have been doing this fair for 8 years and I have been using the same portable shop for over 10 years! Wow that old shop has held up well!!! Capt. Barry I use Cabot water based polyurethane sprayed with a HVLP sprayer. The finish is great and easy to use. I buy it at Lowes.

Thanks again all for the kind words and this fair makes me want to do more!! But that is all, most likely for good? Anybody need a portable shop? Lol!!

Ike,

That is Really GREAT News.... Glad you had FUN and made some money.... Nice Portable Shop !!!!

NO learning curve... Your a PRO and could do it in your sleep.... GOOD JOB !!!!

That is a pretty good deal on the Credit Cards too.... I don't even have a Cell Phone.... LOL....

I tell people I am not important enought... I was in our local Township Office and needed to contact one of the guys about a Park Sign I am making. Another pulled out a smart phone and we all said... You GOT Bars??? He said NO... It's using the WiFi here.... I was Impressed.... We have poor coverage with all the hills....

Look forward to seeing some pictures of the bigger signs you are starting on.

Good Job,

AL
