Is anyone else getting a gui.exe stopped working when slicing a project in STL importer program? I have been getting this message sense updating to 1.184.
I have changed the setting in the preferences tab per the instructions for updating to 1.184, still getting the gui.exe stopped working message.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

I had that problem at the first, but someone suggested to reboot system after new install and that seems to have fixed it.

I am also getting this error- as I posted about previously. It is happening with STLs that I know worked before... and is getting quite annoying to the point that I am only having about a 30-50% success with any given stl. Because I've already complained about it here I haven't re complained recently... but I sure do hope that it gets fixed in a future patch.

Also, pretty pretty pretty please is there any way we can adjust the "model orientation" in other increments other than 90 degrees in the first panel of the stl import?

(the highlighted area is where I'm talking about)
This would assist a very great deal in pattern creation from 3d objects.

Sorry to hijack the thread....

but yes, i'm still having STL slicing problems too.... and I've deleted my favorites, deleted and re-installed designer, and restarted my system... to no avail.

Its not just when slicing, I created a simple Cribbage Board layout and when I try to open the file, I get the gui.exe not working error.

I got the message too when I first tried my new Stl Importer a few days ago, but now I right click the new Designer icon created on the desktop after updating and select "Run As Adminstrator" and I havn't had a problem since.

You can also right click on the icon, select properties, click on the Compatibility tab, check the box next to "Run this program as an Administrator", click Apply then click OK. Now you can just double click on the icon like you normally would and it will automatically run it as administrator.

Hope I've put this in the right place,

Hi folks, I've had my machine for a few months now and liking it quite well. After designing a few simple "Line Art " jobs with the 60 degree V Bit and adding some "Centerline Text" to it, all seemed to be going along quite well until one day, I edited one of the mpc's, saved it , uploaded it, and carved it, no problem. The next time I tried to open the project in Designer it crashed....leaving me to think at the time it was due to a upgrade from 1.184 to 1.185. After loosing a few more projects since(meaning, the next time I try to open them in Designer it crashes).
This Morning, I tried some troubleshooting with simple, and I mean very simple designs, to try and narrow down the problem and also confirm my suspicions.
Here is my conclusion, which needs to be confirmed by someone else, or rather many others just to make sure it's not something pertaining to my computer system(Vista Home Premium on a Gateway AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6 GHz.)
Simple test Project: I drew a straight line and added a certain(double-ended) profile to that line, so it looks like a pea pod...this one and only attribute in the *.mpc will make it crash(gui.exe stopped)
If I draw that same line but only use the "single-ended" profile(so it looks like a comet), nothing happens and all is well.
My conclusion is that this certain profile is causing the problem...at least in my case. It's also only when I try to reopen them after saving; meaning if I never closed them, just uploaded them straight to the card, no problem.

I've attached the two simple mpc's for test purposes. CAUTION: SAVE ALL YOUR OPENED WORK BEFORE CONTINUING

Thank you people for all your devotion and hard work, also my thoughts and prayers go out to those found in the wake of Sandy.

Looks like qt-mt338.dll may be the culprit here...
