This tutorial explains how to place a circle inside a circle and how to apply a texture to the outside. I took it a little further and added an image, clipped it etc. It was hard to stop as there are more things I would like to add.

None of this project includes the Vector Drawing Tools or the Pattern Modeling tools. (I know, I know). I had a request from a customer that was trying to accomplish this, so I decided to make another Step-by-Step guide.

It includes Project Designer, Centerline & Conforming Vectors (the last two are optional as you could do raster for text.)

Great job and perfect timing i was doing something very similar except using rectangle and different texture and your way is going to work great. Strange how things work out. THANKS

I was in a hurry. Pick a pattern; any pattern. It was the technique that I was after.

Sorry to whoever owns this pattern.

Yet another reason I wish pattern authors could embed their info in the files!

Added a little to it using the Revolve tool from Pattern Modeling Suite.

Simple but sure completes the project!! Here the two are side by side.

Great tutorial Connie,

Well organized script and easy to follow your steps. I think the pattern may be LIGHTHOUSE 3 by Norbert Dupuis of VectorClip3D. Have not compared it part by part but yours looks like it. Thanks for sharings this as it taught me some easier steps to get same effects. Old dog, new tricks, who knew.

Connie.... Not sure which plaque I like the best. But the revolve tool cetainly changed the look of your pattern, giving it a more professional look.

I believe that is a vectorclip pattern. I think he offered it as a freebie a while back.

How do you get the grid to show in the lower window?

How do you get the grid to show in the lower window?
ClintIf the grid is not showing, click on that figure, and then display the grid. You may, also, change that grid just as you do for the main design.
