OK, asking you experts out there. I have AutoCAD available again and now I want to create surfaces and solids to bring in as .mpc or other file for carving. I have the ai2mpc routine which has worked great for 2d stuff but now I want to try something a little more advanced. I've searched the forum, but my skills at putting in the right search terms have been unsuccessful. Can anyone point me to a couple post or give me some general direction?

Thanks in advance,
Tracy

The way I import 3d dxf into Designer is to first convert to stl and then use the STL importer. The only other way I know to get 3d into Designer from a 3d program is to do a gray scale render in the 3d program. That is what I did before the STL importer came out.

I take AutoCAD to Photoshop by scan. Turn it to black and white. Take that to Shader Map Pro, back to Photoshop to Designer. I don't even bother with the DXF I bought. Just doesn't have the same smooth look this long process turns out.

Thanks for the info folks. I guess I'll look at the DXF importer.
