In the process of replacing my sandpaper belts. Extraction successful, replacement seemed to go "by the book," thus far. Soon will replace the snap-on gear cover - and that has driven this query. As the gears are exposed (pre cover installation) and I can see some grease on the gear webs - but not on the mating teeth - is there any merit to "greasing the gears" prior to replacing the gear cover?
I am aware of the caulking recommendation and will do that, but it seems like a perfect opportunity to provide some othewise non-accessible lubrication.
Yes? No? Thoughts?
Thanks!
