They both look worlds better than what I could do but the grey one seems to import a bit cleaner. Thanks so much. Coming up on PCS season and I am getting pinged left and right. I am trying to invent a new billet at the squadron. The Plaque Gunny. Nobody seems to be taking me seriously at work, but I think its worth a shot or two.

Plaque Gunny sounds great to me, keep working it, it will catch on. Unit plaques should do well with name/ dates added. Short timer boots and helmet like we did in the old days.

Adobe photo shop or Corel photo good tool to edit the photos.

Ok.......SO I carved this thing and the letters just dont work. I tried as shallow as I could but the letters just dont look good. I had it on best and everything else looked good. Just those letters. Any advice?

Could try adding some draft to it, or go into pattern editor and work the text there.

I have thickened up the letters a little if you want to use this one. Letters popping out carves better than letters engraved inward in my opinion. I don't know what you had used before.

I did some looking at all the different patterns that were given, I think for this pattern Ringneck's will work the best. I loaded all three on a board and looked at them. I screwed by not carving on a test board and I went straight to the plaque. Luckily I hadnt done any real work on it yet. Anyway, Ringnecks is flat and when inverted and very shallow, (.063 or .125), the carve on designer looks a lot cleaner. So I will try a test carve tomorrow at the two aforementioned depths and then roll back into the plaque. Our next det just got bumped up so my timeline just shrunk by a week and I have 5 projects due starting with the 1st one on monday. I screwed up and actually painted something and I let the wrong person see it. I will post tomorrow to let all know how they worked.

Will changing depth to 999 help?

I wonder how long before this project shows up on eBay...? Pattern Reselling for PROFIT is just not right...

Good Luck,

AL

The one on the right is the one Ringneck did. The left is the one that Alan just uploaded.

Can't tell for sure but do you have the patterns inverted? If so I think they would carve better in the raised format.. To be totally honest on mine I did not even take it into designer to look at in on a board, just worked with it in the editor..

Here is something a little different but I think it still might work for you.

I removed the old lettering and add new to give it a clean look.

Now that looks very carve able! Lettering in these types of patterns is one thing I find be the hardest to get correct for the proper cut.
