Could use some help with a pattern

first off let me say thank you to everyone who has helped me on here before.

My boss is wanting me to make him a plaque for a friend with the logo for the 82nd Airbourne on it. One design I have is pretty basic the other I like the best. With either one I could really use some help getting a good mpc to carve out of these, my attempts just dont look good enough for me. If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it
